Services

Land prior to developing - We treat trees that are to be saved and/or featured. The treatment is most successful if applied at least 4-6 months prior to the ground under the dripline being disturbed or compacted. The treatment invigorates the roots so they can better withstand soil compaction and drought like conditions.

Land in the process of development - We treat trees with a one-two punch if development has already been started. We treat the same as in the "prior to development" and then treat with nutrients and minerals to help replace nutrients and minerals either used by the trees response during and following construction trauma or that may no longer available to the tree.

Tree Assessment - We offer two levels of tree assessment. The first assessment is a visual assessment done from the ground with the help of binoculars, if needed. The second includes a more through assessment because we include a trip up into the tree. Both can be put into writing for the tree owner’s records. We ID the tree, record the size, make comments concerning the tree’s overall condition.

Tree Inventory - Typically for larger tree tracts or for Home Owners Associations. An inventory typically includes all trees over six inches DBH (Diameter at Breast Height). This helps the mgmt tract the trees development. We ID the trees, record their size, make comments concerning the trees overall condition.

Lightning Protection - is a product placed into a tree that provides a path of lesser resistance for the lightning than going through the tree. It consists of braided/woven copper cable and lightning rods installed high in the tree and ran to grounding rods driven up to nine feet into the ground.

Tree Training Pruning - Designed to help prevent many of the developmental/structural problems that cause older trees to fail, usually from in high winds, ice storms and other acts of nature. We apply this training while the tree is still young and trainable. The younger the tree, the better it can respond to the pruning.

Tree Root Pruning - Designed to help remove roots that are growing in an undesired direction i.e. towards structures, sidewalks, etc.

Root Barriers - Mechanical barriers that are installed to discourage roots from growing into or back into an area where they are unwanted.

Storm Damage Preparation Pruning - Tree foliage can act much like a sail on a ship. Too much resistance to wind can cause failure of limbs, roots or the entire tree. Much like sign makers who design signs with flaps to allow wind to blow through instead of push against signs, we prune the canopy to allow wind to more easily blow through the canopy decreasing the push against it.

Fertilization - Just like with grass, trees need certain elements for healthy development and to help them grow stronger. High nitrogen works better on grass than trees.

Pest Management - All trees are subjected to pests. Pests are around us all the time. When it is determined that a tree is infested with undesirable pests, we inject the tree with pesticides in an effort to bring the pests under control and help the tree recover. Some of the local undesirable pests include canker worms, tent caterpillars, scale, aphids and orange stripped oak worm.

Root invigoration - Increases the mass of the roots within the dripline of the tree. This increases the surface area available for water and nutrient uptake, helps the tree be more drought resistance and increases the structural integrity of the root system.

Plant Growth Regulation - Actually reduces the growth of a tree by 20-30% each year. This treatment works great when a tree has a limited growing space such as the front of a home.

Sweet gum "Sticker ball" inhibitor - This treatment inhibits the production of sticker balls on Sweet gum trees up to 80-95%. You get to keep your tree and not have to deal with all those sticker balls! This works on Black Walnut, Persimmon and Wild Cherry trees also.

Cabling/Bracing - This procedure is designed to help delay the removal of limbs/co-dominate leaders within trees. We use a dynamic method designed to be the least invasive method to the tree.

Rope Swing installation - Yes, we have been know to help install ropes in trees for swings. We install in a way that does not strangulate limbs like where a rope is just tied around limbs. Our method expands as the limb grows!

Stump Grinding - Mechanical method of shredding/grinding the stump of a tree. This is accomplished with an engine powered machine. We have stump grinders that will fit through a 36 inch gate, up to grinders that are powered by a diesel engine and pulled behind tow vehicles. No job is too small or too large. Each stump is different because of many factors. Please call for a free estimate. Custom jobs are no problem!

Tree Removal - As the term implies, we do fell and remove trees. We have the best equipment, including cranes, available to help with the removal process. We have removed backyard trees weighing in excess of 40 tons! Some of the reasons we have removed trees are for home additions, swimming pool installation, playground equipment installation, because the tree was dead or a hazard and because the tree grew too large for the present location, etc.

Spraying - We do have the ability and occasionally do spray trees. However this is one of the least effective practices of getting product into trees. Spraying introduces gallons into our environment. See our partial menu of service offerings.

Injection - a method by which a small hole is bored into a tree and product is administered through the hole in the tree. This method introduces only milliliters into the tree. There is some studies that show boring can cause damage to the trees wood and leave an entry point for pests/pathogens.

Direct Injection - our preferred methodology of administering product into a tree. There is NO BORING of holes into the tree. There are no open wounds left by directly injecting product into trees. Ask about our direct injection method.

Deep root injection - a process by which product is injected, under pressure, into the ground so as to go below shallow roots of grasses, etc. providing more product for the tree to uptake.

Soil analysis - a service by which it the presence of and kinds of nutrients contained in the soil is determined. The analysis also determines the ph level of the soil to see if nutrients are available for the tree to uptake.

Mycorrhizae - is beneficial fungi that assists in the uptake of vital nutrients and moisture by the tree. We offer this fungi for injection into the soil.

Organic treatments - are available and used whenever possible unless an alternative is requested by the owner.

Stress treatments - are available.

Climbing spurs (spikes) - a climbing tool strapped to ones lower legs used to assist in ascending a tree. Strick Tree adheres to the Internation Society of Arboricultures rules which state; spikes are not to be used when climbing trees unless the tree is being removed or when climber safety is an issue.
